Introduction
Thalassa Energy Services Ltd was established in 2007 to provide services to the marine geophysical industry with particular emphasis on the provision of source systems for reservoir monitoring projects.
Thalassa Energy Services Ltd is a subsidiary of Thalassa Holdings Ltd, which listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange on 29 July 2008.
The Concept: To provide a portable, modular source system that can be installed on any typical oil field service vessel.
The Driver: As access to 'easy oil' diminishes, the necessity to maximise the extraction from known reserves increases. One method used to monitor the development of the reservoir is time lapse (4D) seismic.
The Method: Sensor cables are deployed on the seabed above the reservoir. Sensor cables are attached to a data acquisition system installed on the production platform. The PMSS™ is deployed to 'shoot' over the sea bed cables at intervals to provide an 'image' of the reservoir. Images are compared over time to enable optimum production from the reservoir.
